The Bridge Beyond began from lived experience navigating the NICU journey and everything that comes after it. What can often feel like a short hospital stay on paper is, for many families, the start of a much longer and more complex path once they return home.
Along the way, it became clear how many families are left trying to find answers, support, and understanding on their own. The transition out of the NICU can feel isolating, overwhelming, and uncertain; especially when medical complexity continues beyond discharge.
This foundation was created in response to that gap.
The mission of The Bridge Beyond is to support families navigating life after the NICU through lived experience, advocacy, and connection to resources and guidance. We aim to help bridge the gap between hospital discharge and ongoing care by helping families feel less alone and more supported in what comes next.
As this foundation grows, our focus is to expand meaningful support for families in practical and emotional ways. This includes connecting parents to helpful organizations and resources, sharing lived experience to reduce isolation, and building future support initiatives such as many variations of care packages for families facing ongoing medical complexity after the NICU.
Everything is being built with the intention of meeting families where they are, not just during discharge, but in the months and years that follow.
The Bridge Beyond is still in its early stages, and updates will be shared as this work continues to grow.
